The NSW Housing Development Authority was put in place in January 2025 by the NSW Government to fast track housing State Significant Developments (SSDs).
Under the authority of Simon Draper Secretary of the NSW Premier’s Department , Kiersten Fishburn Secretary of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) and Tom Gellibrand Secretary Infrastructure NSW they are certainly fast tracking SSDs.
The HDA have met 10 times since 7 February to 23 June for around 15 hours in total and considered 350 applications from various developers. In total the group of 3 NSW Government bureaucrats have recommended 161 applications be recommended and declared State Significant Developments for 60,347 new dwellings primarily across Greater Sydney. What a win for the development industry to have your spot rezoning proposals assessed in quick time – roughly 2 to 3minutes per each application!!
