  • May 2025 Ku-ring-gai receives some of the heaviest rain in Sydney in May 2025 causing signficant flash flooding. Ku-ring-gai Council has been inundated with calls for help and has responded with advice to residents on how to respond to flash flooding. fallen trees and power outages HERE.|

    19-24 May 2025: Sydney has recorded torrential rainfall (more than 100 millimetres of rain over the past 24 hours) causing severe train disruption. The heaviest rainfall occurred at Wahroonga.

    23 May 2025: The North Shore Train Line has closed due to flooding on the tracks between Central and Town Hall Stations. See HERE

    Extremely heavy rainfall has led to flash flooding from overflowing drainage systems – nature strips, footpaths, roads – overwhelmed by the intensity of rain falling. This has also led to potentially life threatening situations, such as fallen trees and branches.  Power lines have fallen leading to power outages and traffic chaos.
  • 26 May 2025: Woollhara Councillor Merrill Witt tabled a Notice of Motion regarding the State Significant Developments Applications in Woollhara Council area.

  • 5 June 2025: Extraordinary Council Meeting re regarding the Ku-ring-gai Transport Oriented Development (TOD) Preferred Alternative was adjourned to Thursday 5 June 2025. Mayor Christine Kay uses her casting vote to DEFER the Extraordinary Meeting to Thursday 5 June 2025 for Council to consider community views expressed at the 21 May Extraordinary Public Forum (22 May 2025).   • 23 October 2025: Environmental Defenders Office (EDO)’s 40th Anniversary Dinner, Sydney Town Hall. EDO celebrated their 40th Anniversary dinner to recognise four decades of justice for nature, people and our shared planet, and those who have propelled the EDO along the way. Kathy Cowley and Janine Kitson attended representing FOKE.

November 2025
  • 11 November 2025: Bendigo Bank presents FOKE with a $1000 cheque
  • 11 November 2025: NSW  Environmental Planning and Assessment Amendment (Planning System Reforms) Bill 2025 passes that will set environmental protection in NSW back decades. 
  • 18 November 2025: Ku-ring-gai Council abandons its legal action against the NSW Government and approving its TOD Alternative Plan (with NSW Government Amendments).
