BECAUSE THE BILL:

• will not solve the housing crisis
• will not provide affordable housing for our children and essential workers
• bypasses environmental assessment & community consultation through a new Targeted Assessment Development (TAD) pathway
• weakens development standards
• ignores key environmental impacts
• removes environmental protections
• switches off protections for threatened species to fast track development
• centralises power
• gives extraordinary power to the Planning Secretary to override independent experts in government departments, local government and the community
• increases risk of corruption
• remove local government powers to protect their environment
• it will silence communities by creating a single community participation plan despite the huge differences in development needs and types across NSW
• removes local democracy
• reduces public consultation
