Subject: Act Now: Put a Stop to Fast-Tracking Destruction

The NSW Government has introduced a bill to Parliament that, if passed, will usher in a new wave of environmental destruction — this bill is likely to be one of the first on the agenda this week. Time is of the essence to stop this attempt to weaken environmental protections in our planning system.

The NSW Planning System Reforms Bill 2025 is being pitched as a way to make the planning system quicker to navigate when building homes, but the Bill waters down community and environment protections and makes it easier for all kinds of developments to evade proper assessment.

This is the most significant reduction in development controls in 50 years, and it’s being done with zero public consultation. If passed, these reforms will be a giant step backward for environmental protections in NSW and significantly undermine the progress we are aiming to achieve.

That’s why we need you to write to your MP and tell them to send this Bill to an inquiry so the changes can be properly assessed and the public can have their say.

Take Action: Write to your MP

Thanks for all you do for nature,
