KDCP amendment – Local Character, Urban Precincts & Sites

Ku-ring-gai Council invites comment from the community on an amendment to Part 14 of the Ku-ring-gai Development Control Plan (KDCP).

The eight Character Areas formalised in the Council adopted Ku-ring-gai Local Character Background Study are proposed to be inserted at the beginning of Part 14 of the KDCP.

The inclusion of this amendment will mean that the many applications being submitted to Council will have to have regard to local character and the setting of buildings. Improved reference to local character matters will enable better retention of the area’s values, including trees and landscaping, which are key across Ku-ring-gai.

Paul Scully asked questions

NSW Planning Minister Paul Scully and NSW Department of Planning staff were questioned at the Budget Estimates on 25 August 2025.

It was a very disappointing to listen to the Minister in denial about the devastation that his ‘reforms’ are going to wreck across Greater Sydney’s heritage and environment.
