Developers can now bypass Ku-ring-gai Council and have their proposals assessed by the NSW Housing Delivery Authority.
Currently two State Significant Development Applications have been announced for Gordon and Lindfield:
- 3-9 Park Avenue, Gordon for a 9 storey development + 100 apartments + 125 car spaces
- Woodside and Highgate Road, Lindfield for 173 apartments covering multiple sites
Since the announcement of the new Housing Delivery Authority (HDA) we have been concerned that it would override Ku-ring-gai Council’s TOD alternative scenario plans and ignore the community voices. This concern is now a reality.
What was the point of residents being consulted over the five alternative TOD scenarios when developers can now bypass Council and go direct to the HDA for processing? Council hasn’t even made its recommendation on the preferred scenario which is expected to be announced shortly.
The HDA is undemocratic and prioritises high-density development over community interests.
