2024 has been an extraordinarily challenging year not only for Ku-ring-gai but many other local government areas across Greater Sydney at a time when governments are placing developers’ interests before the health, safety and happiness of communities and the environment.

We face unparallelled challenges – climate breakdown and biodiversity extinction.

The science is irrefutable. The planet is heating. Without dramatic change, we face a dire future. The top ten hottest years on record have happened in the last 10 years, including 2024.

We must find ecologically sustainable solutions.

We must all work to put the world on a safer path by dramatically slashing emissions, supporting the transition to a renewable future and protecting the planet’s forests – including Ku-ring-gai’s rare remnant Blue Gum High Forest and outstanding urban biodiversity.
