It is expected that the Legislative Council will VOTE for the Environmental Planning and Assessment Amendment (Planning System Reforms) Bill 2025 TODAY (Thursday 23 October 2025).
Already there has been pushback from courageous and principled MLCs including Sue Higginson and Cate Faehrmann. You can read their Hansard speeches HERE
Maximum pressure STILL needs to be felt.
NSW Labor and NSW Liberal are supportive of the Bill.

TELL THEM THEY MUST APPROVE AMENDMENTS to protect NSW’s environment and keep NSW corruption free
What to say?
Dear MLC
- REFER the BILL to a TO A PARLIAMENTARY INQUIRY
- REMOVE the new Targeted Assessment Development (TAD) pathway THAT “turns off the need to consider likely impacts, the public interest and the suitability of the site” and “allows for reduced or no community consultation”.
- REMOVE the new Development Coordination Authority that removes DA
consent assessment from independent agencies including NSW Rural Fire Service, Transgrid, Ausgrid, Sydney Water and regional water agencies, Transport for NSW, Environment Protection Authority, and Heritage NSW, including Aboriginal Heritage. - REMOVE complying pathway pathway that removes local community input
- ENSURE a statutory authority that investigates non-compliance complaints
THE BILL:
- will not solve the housing crisis
- will not make housing affordable
- bypasses environmental assessment & community consultation through a new Targeted Assessment Development (TAD) pathway
- weakens development standards
- ignores key environmental impacts
- risks corruption
- fails to protect NSW communities and the environment
